Coconut Chutney

Coconut chutney is a kind of chutney that goes well with any meal or snack in my opinion.

2 cups fresh grated coconut ,  1-2 green chillis (depending on the spice level you need), fresh coriander leaves,  dry roasted gram dal (putani), ½ lemon, salt, sugar

  • Grind  putani, green chillis and coriander in a grinder.
  • Add the grated coconut, salt , 1/4 teaspoon sugar and lemon juice.
  • Add ½ cup water and grind till you get green homogeneous chutney.

Tips and Tricks:

  • You can use the fresh grated coconut available in grocery stores to make this chutney.
  • Most of the fiber in cilantro/coriander is in the stems. So this is a good place to use the stems as it is being ground in a mixer. Good way to get some fiber in your diet :-).

Typically Served With:

Dosa, idli, pud (salty appam or gundpokal), bhajji, samosa, pakoda, puri etc
